§ 2805 Hearsay within hearsay.

Sometimes a piece of evidence has one out-of-court statement tucked inside another out-of-court statement. This is called "hearsay within hearsay." For example, a written report might quote what someone else said, so you have two layers of statements made outside of court.

This rule says that kind of double-layered evidence can still be used in court, but only if both layers pass the test on their own. Each statement, the outer one and the inner one, has to fit into one of the exceptions to the hearsay rule. If either layer fails to meet an exception, the evidence cannot come in.

In simple terms, you cannot use a technicality to sneak in evidence that would otherwise be blocked. Every part of the statement needs its own valid reason for being allowed, not just the statement as a whole.
