When a court clerk receives any paper for a case, the clerk must write down the date it was filed. This creates an official record showing exactly when each document came into the court system.

The same rule applies to court orders for provisional remedies, like temporary injunctions or attachments. If someone posts a bond or gives an undertaking connected to one of these orders, the clerk must also date-stamp it when it comes back to the office.

This process matters because deadlines in a case often depend on when something was officially filed. Having a clear date on every document helps everyone know where things stand and prevents disputes over whether a paper was filed on time.
