§ 3307 Emergency order.

Even if people are working through the collaborative law process to settle a family or divorce case, a court can still step in when someone is in danger. If a party, or a family or household member, needs protection from domestic abuse, a judge can issue an emergency order right away.

This means the collaborative process does not stop the court from acting fast to keep someone safe. Safety comes first, even if both sides agreed to try to work things out privately through collaborative law. Anyone who qualifies to ask for a protective order under Oklahoma's domestic abuse protection law can still get that help during this process.
