Rule 5 Filing and Publication of Rules and Appointments of Presiding Judge

When a Presiding Judge makes an appointment or creates a rule for their judicial district, that decision has to be filed with the court clerk in every district court affected by it. The rules also get published in the Oklahoma Bar Journal and posted on the Supreme Court's website so the public can find them.

Not everything has to be filed, though. If a judge is given a temporary assignment or receives a directive from the Presiding Judge, that paperwork doesn't need to go to the court clerk. Instead, the original copy stays with whoever issued it, whether that's the Presiding Judge, the Chief Judge, or the district judge who made the assignment.

In short, this rule makes sure official rules and appointments are properly recorded and easy for people to find, while keeping routine assignment paperwork simpler and less formal.
