Rule 7 Time

Here's what this rule means for people taking the shorthand reporter exam.

You get 90 minutes to type up the testimony Q&A dictation. This is the part where you write out questions and answers like you would hear in a courtroom. You also get another 90 minutes for the jury charge dictation, which is the part where a judge gives instructions to a jury.

On top of that, there's a separate written test called the Oklahoma Written Knowledge portion. You get 45 minutes to finish this section.

So the exam has three timed parts. Two parts give you an hour and a half each, and the last part gives you 45 minutes. Knowing these time limits ahead of time can help you plan how to pace yourself during the test.
