If you file an appeal but make a small mistake or leave out some paperwork detail, the court won't throw out your appeal just because of that error. Small formatting problems or minor slip-ups in how you filed won't cost you your right to appeal.

If your appeal does get dismissed because of one of these issues, you still have a chance to fix the problem. As long as you correct the mistake within a reasonable amount of time, you can file the appeal again. This gives people a fair shot at having their case heard, even if they made an honest mistake in the filing process.
