§ 1186 Requisites of answer.

When someone is formally accused in this type of case, they get a chance to respond. This rule explains the two ways they can answer the accusation.

First, the person can argue that the accusation itself is not good enough. This means they can say the accusation, or a specific part of it, does not meet the legal requirements it needs to meet.

Second, the person can simply deny that the accusation is true. Instead of pointing out a problem with how the accusation was written, they can say the facts in it are wrong.

The defendant gets to choose which approach to use, or they can use both if it fits their situation. This gives them a fair chance to challenge what they are being accused of.
