§ 1192 Removal if convicted.

If someone is convicted while holding a public office, the court has to order that person removed from their job as part of the sentencing. This removal doesn't happen automatically just because there was a conviction.

The court has to actually write down the decision and explain why the person is being removed. This written record, along with the reasons for removal, has to be entered into the official court record. Without this written explanation, the removal order won't count.

In short, a conviction alone isn't enough to remove someone from public office. The judge must take the extra step of putting the removal decision and the reasons behind it in writing as part of the official court record.
