§ 153 Absence from state, limitation does not run.

If someone commits a crime but is out of state when it happens, the clock on the deadline to charge them doesn't start until they come back into Oklahoma. Prosecutors have the full time limit to file charges, but that time only begins counting once the person is actually present in the state.

This also means that any time the person spends living outside Oklahoma, or not being a resident here, doesn't count toward the deadline. So if someone leaves the state for a while after committing a crime, that time away doesn't help them run out the clock. The deadline basically pauses while they're gone and only starts moving again once they're back and living in Oklahoma.

In short, people can't avoid prosecution just by staying away from the state. The law gives prosecutors the same amount of time to act, but it only counts the time when the person could actually be found and charged in Oklahoma.
