§ 184 Offense triable in another county - Taking defendant before magistrate.

If you're arrested on a warrant for a crime that will be tried in a different county, the officer who arrests you can't just take you anywhere. The officer has to bring you to the closest available judge (magistrate) in the county where the crime is actually going to be tried. The officer also has to turn in paperwork showing that the warrant was carried out.

Once you're brought before that judge, the judge handles things just like they would if they had issued the warrant themselves. This means you get the same basic process and protections, no matter which county judge ends up seeing you first. The rule exists to make sure your case moves to the right place without unnecessary delay or confusion.
