§ 31 Who may resist.

Anyone can step in to stop a crime from happening, not just the person being targeted. If someone is about to be hurt or wronged by a criminal act, that person has the right to defend themselves. But the law also allows other people, like witnesses or bystanders, to lawfully step in and help stop the crime.

This means you don't have to stand by and do nothing if you see a crime about to happen to someone else. The law gives regular people permission to get involved and use reasonable force to prevent it, as long as their actions stay within the limits of what's considered lawful resistance.
