When multiple people are charged together in the same case, the court doesn't have to treat them all the same way. Each defendant's guilt or innocence gets decided on its own.

This means the jury or judge can find some defendants guilty while finding others not guilty, even though they were charged in the same case. One person being convicted doesn't mean the others must be convicted too. Likewise, if one defendant is found not guilty, that doesn't automatically clear the others.

In short, just because people are charged together doesn't mean their cases are locked together. Each person's outcome depends on the evidence against them specifically, not on what happens to their co-defendants.
