Here's what this rule means in plain terms:

If a judge issues a commitment order while the defendant is standing right there in court, the defendant gets taken into custody immediately. There's no delay or extra steps needed. The person is committed on the spot.

If the defendant isn't in the courtroom when the judge makes this order, the court has to issue a bench warrant instead. This warrant works like an arrest warrant. Police can use it to find the defendant and bring them in. Once they're caught, the case follows the normal process for handling bench warrants that's laid out elsewhere in the law.

Basically, this rule just makes sure that a commitment order gets carried out one way or another. It covers both situations: when someone is already in front of the judge, and when they're not there and need to be tracked down first.
