§ 51 Discharge when complainant fails to appear.

If someone files a criminal complaint against you but then doesn't show up, you can be released from the charge. The court expects the person who made the complaint to actually be present to move the case forward. If they skip out without a good reason, there's no point keeping you tied up in the case.

That said, this isn't automatic in every situation. If there's a good reason why the complainant couldn't appear, like an emergency or some other valid excuse, the court can decide to keep the case going anyway. The main idea is that the person accused shouldn't be stuck waiting around if the person who started the case doesn't bother to follow through, unless there's a fair explanation for their absence.
