If someone is arrested but the warrant used to arrest them did not come from the right county, that person cannot be held on that warrant. The court must let them go. If they already posted bail, that bail money gets released back to them. If someone else paid money to get them out of jail instead of using a bondsman, that money also gets returned.

This rule also protects the people who backed the person's bail, known as sureties. If a warrant turns out to be from the wrong county, these sureties are released from their promise to pay if the defendant fails to show up to court. They no longer have any responsibility tied to that bail agreement.
