§ 911 Return of jury into court upon agreement - Discharge on failure of some jurors to appear.

When a jury reaches a verdict, the officer in charge brings them back into the courtroom. The court then calls out each juror's name to make sure everyone is present. This step confirms that the full jury is there to deliver the verdict.

If any juror is missing when the names are called, the court cannot accept the verdict. Instead, the judge must dismiss the jury without getting a verdict at all, even if the other jurors are ready to give one. All jurors have to be present and accounted for the verdict to count.

If this happens, the case is not over. It simply means the trial has to happen again. This new trial can take place during the same court term or at a later one.
