§ 913 Proceedings when jury appear.

When the jury comes back into the courtroom, the judge or court clerk will ask them if they have reached a verdict. The jury foreman speaks for the group and answers this question. If the foreman says yes, the jury has agreed on a verdict, the court will then ask them to state what that verdict is out loud.

This rule simply sets up the basic steps for how a jury announces its decision. It makes sure there's a clear, formal process for checking that the jury has actually finished their deliberations before asking them to reveal the verdict. This protects everyone involved by confirming the jury reached a real, complete decision rather than announcing something too early or by mistake.
