§ 919 Informal verdict to be reconsidered.

If a jury comes back with a verdict that is confusing or not written the way it should be, the judge does not have to accept it right away. The judge can send the jury back to the jury room and give them more guidance on the law so they can fix the verdict.

The verdict cannot become official until it is clear enough for everyone to understand what the jury actually decided. This rule exists to make sure there is no confusion about the outcome of the case. A verdict that is unclear or hard to understand cannot be entered into the court record.

So if you're involved in a case and the jury's first verdict seems off or unclear, this rule allows the judge to step in and ask the jury to clarify their decision before it becomes final.
