§ 924 Commitment upon conviction.

When a jury finds someone guilty with a general verdict, this rule explains what happens next while they wait for their official sentencing. If the person is already in jail, they stay in custody. If they were out on bail, the court can now have them taken into custody to wait for the judge's final ruling.

Once the person is committed to custody, their bail bond is no longer needed and is officially cancelled. If they had put down cash instead of using a bail bond, that money gets returned to them at this point. The bail or deposit was only there to guarantee they'd show up for court, and once they're back in custody, that guarantee isn't needed anymore.
