§ 965 Warrant for defendant not appearing - Forfeiture of bond or bail money.

If someone is out on bail or has put down money instead of using a bondsman, they still have to show up in court when it's time for judgment. If they skip out and don't appear, the court doesn't just take their bail money or deposit. The judge can also order the court clerk to issue a bench warrant, which means the police can now arrest that person.

So skipping court has two consequences. First, the person loses their bail money or bond. Second, they become wanted by the police through the bench warrant. This rule gives the court a way to both punish the no-show financially and bring the person back into custody so the case can move forward.
