§ 969 Defendant to be arrested.

When a judge issues a bench warrant for someone, the police officer who finds that person must take action right away. It doesn't matter if the officer catches the person in the same county where the warrant was issued or in a completely different county. The officer still has to arrest them.

Once the arrest happens, the officer has two options, and the warrant itself will say which one to follow. The officer can bring the person directly to court to face the judge, or the officer can hand the person over to whatever jail or officer the warrant names. Either way, the person doesn't get to just walk away because they were caught somewhere else. The warrant follows them no matter where they're found.
