§ 996.2 Implementation and scope of program.

The Department of Corrections runs a special program called the Delayed Sentencing Program for Young Adults. This program is meant for younger offenders who need a more structured path instead of going straight into a regular sentence.

The program lasts at least 180 days, but no longer than one year. During this time, the offender lives in a highly controlled setting. They get close supervision, treatment, and discipline, along with job training or education that fits their needs.

The goal is to give young offenders a chance to change their behavior before their final sentence is decided. It combines strict structure with support, so they can build skills and habits that help them stay out of trouble in the future.
