Judges and people running for judicial office need to keep their political activity in check. They can't act in ways that make people doubt their fairness or independence once they're on the bench.

This means judges and candidates have to be careful about things like endorsing other political candidates, attending campaign events, or making promises about how they'll rule on future cases. The goal is to keep judges separate from typical political games, since their job is to be fair and neutral, not to serve a political party or push an agenda.

Even when someone is running for a judgeship, which often involves campaigning and raising money, they still have to follow these limits. This helps make sure that once they're in office, the public can trust they'll make decisions based on the law, not political favors or pressure.
