Sec 7.9 Representation In Administrative Hearings

A licensed legal intern can take part in administrative hearings, but there are limits on how much they can do alone.

If the intern's supervising attorney represents someone going up against a state agency, the attorney must be there in person for every part of the hearing. The intern cannot handle any part of that case without the attorney physically present.

If the supervising attorney instead represents the state agency itself, the rules are more relaxed. In that case, the intern can appear at any stage of the hearing, as long as the state agency allows it. This gives interns more freedom to work on cases when they're on the agency's side of things.
