RULE 1.55 BRIEFS

This rule sets the deadlines for filing briefs once a case record is complete. The petitioner (the person bringing the appeal) must file their main brief, called the Brief-in-Chief, within 20 days after the court receives notice that the case record is finished. This brief explains the petitioner's arguments for why the case should be decided in their favor.

After that, the respondent (the other side) has 10 days to file an Answer Brief responding to those arguments. If the petitioner wants to reply to the respondent's answer, they have 5 days after the Answer Brief is filed to submit a Reply Brief.

The rule also says that both sides need to follow other formatting and procedural rules when preparing their briefs, specifically Rules 1.10 and 1.11. These rules cover things like how the briefs should look, what they need to include, and other technical requirements. Following these deadlines and formatting rules matters because missing them can affect how the court handles the case.
