When a retired judge gets called back to work on Workers' Compensation Court cases, this happens because the Chief Justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court assigns them to the job. Once assigned, the retired judge has to follow the same laws that apply to any other judge on this court.
On top of that, the retired judge also has to follow any additional instructions set by the other judges on the Workers' Compensation Court. This means if most of the sitting judges agree on certain duties or expectations, the retired judge must go along with those decisions too. Basically, retired judges don't get special treatment or reduced responsibilities just because they're retired. They step back into the role and do the job the same way any current judge would, based on both state law and what their fellow judges decide.
