Rule 7.45 Motions Arising From Settlement, Mediation, or Arbitration

When someone settles a case, mediates it, or goes through arbitration, and this leads to a request to end the appeal, the paperwork filed with the court needs to say so clearly.

If a party asks to dismiss their own appeal because they reached a settlement, they have to state that in the motion. The same goes for anyone responding to that motion. This helps the court understand why the appeal is being dropped.

If a motion deals with dismissing a case or figuring out whether the court has jurisdiction, and it grew out of court-ordered or court-offered arbitration or mediation, the title of that motion must mention this. Anyone responding to it must do the same in their response. This makes sure the court can quickly see the background behind these kinds of requests.
