§ 131.335 Change of venue

Here's a plain English summary of this rule:

If you're charged with a crime, you can ask to move your trial to a different location, but you only get to do this one time. Once a judge grants your request and moves the trial, that's it. You can't keep asking for more changes just because you want a different location again.

There is one exception. If something new happens after your first move that gives you a valid reason to ask again, you may be allowed a second change. This means the reason has to be based on something that came up after the first move was granted, not something you already knew about or could have raised earlier.

The bigger process for how to actually request a change of venue is covered in other related rules (ORS 131.345 to 131.415). This particular rule just sets the limit: one change of venue per case, unless new circumstances come up later that justify asking again.
