§ 131.875 Effect of appointment of special officers on salary of regular officers

If a special officer is appointed to help out, the regular officer who normally holds that job still gets paid their full salary. The regular officer does not lose any pay just because someone else was brought in temporarily to handle certain duties.

This rule protects elected and regular officers from having their income cut when a special officer steps in. It makes sure that bringing in extra help does not create a financial penalty for the person who normally holds the position.
