§ 135.707 Discharge as bar to prosecution

If a court dismisses your case under ORS 135.705 and enters judgment, that's the end of it. The state cannot bring the same charge against you again for that same crime.

This is basically a form of protection against being tried twice for the same offense. Once the judgment is entered, prosecutors are legally blocked from starting a new case against you based on the same conduct. It gives you a clean, final result instead of leaving the charge open to be refiled later.
