§ 137.145 Definitions for ORS 137.145 to 137.159

This rule explains two terms used in a group of Oregon laws about criminal cases (ORS 137.145 to 137.159).

First, a "criminal judgment" simply means the official decision a court makes when someone is found guilty of a crime. It's the paperwork that shows a conviction happened.

Second, a "local court" means either a justice court or a municipal court. These are smaller, local-level courts, as opposed to bigger county or state courts. Knowing this helps clarify which courts the related rules apply to.
