§ 137.260 Political rights restored to persons convicted of felony before August 9, 1961, and subsequently discharged

If you were convicted of a felony before August 9, 1961, and you later finished your probation, parole, or prison time (whether that happened before or after that date), your political rights are automatically given back to you. This means things like your right to vote or hold public office are restored once you've completed your sentence.

You don't have to apply for this or go through any special court process. As long as you were convicted before that specific date in 1961 and you completed whatever punishment the court gave you, the law considers your rights restored automatically.

This rule mainly applies to people with older convictions from before 1961. If your felony conviction happened after that date, different rules would apply to figure out how your rights get restored.
