This rule no longer exists. It was officially removed from Oregon law in 2011, so it has no legal effect today.

Before it was repealed, the rule had been changed several times over the years, starting in 1989 and continuing through 2009. Each change updated or adjusted parts of the original law. But in 2011, Oregon lawmakers decided to get rid of it completely as part of a larger update to the state's criminal procedure laws.
