§ 137.390 Commencement, term and termination of term of imprisonment in county jail; treatment of prisoners therein

When someone is sentenced to time in the county jail, the rules for figuring out when that sentence starts, how long it lasts, and when it ends are the same rules used for other jail sentences under ORS 137.370. There's nothing special or different about the calculation just because the person is in county jail versus another type of facility.

As for how the person is treated while serving their sentence, that's controlled by whatever local or state laws apply to running the county jail. This means the day-to-day conditions, rules, and discipline in the jail follow separate laws specifically about jail operations, not this particular rule. In short, this rule points people to other laws to answer two questions: how to calculate the jail sentence, and how the jail itself is run.
