§ 137.662 Oregon Criminal Justice Commission Account

This rule sets up a special account for the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission to hold its money. This account is kept separate from the state's General Fund, which is the main pool of money the state uses for its everyday operations.

Most of the money the commission receives goes into this special account. There's one exception: money described in a different law (ORS 131A.460) doesn't go into this account. Money that comes from General Fund appropriations also stays separate.

The key point is that once money lands in this account, the commission can use it right away to do its job. Normally, government agencies need lawmakers to approve spending each time, but this rule gives the commission ongoing permission to spend the money in this account without going back for approval each time. This helps the commission function more smoothly since it doesn't have to wait for new budget approvals to use money it already has.
