§ 144.646 Use of rules and matrix by community corrections agency

When a community corrections agency looks at a release plan for a sex offender, it can't just decide on its own where that person should live. The agency has to follow specific rules and use a decision tool (called a matrix) that the Department of Corrections created. This matrix helps guide decisions about where the sex offender will live permanently after release.

The point of this rule is to keep the process consistent. Instead of each local agency making up its own approach, everyone uses the same standards set by the Department of Corrections. This helps make sure decisions about sex offender housing are made the same way across different communities, using guidelines that were already worked out under a related law (ORS 144.642).
