§ 147.468 Authority of Department of Justice

This rule gives Oregon's Department of Justice the power to take action against domestic and sexual violence, but only when money is available to pay for it. If funds exist, the Department can train people, offer technical help, and work on policies that address these issues.

The Department can also teach the public about domestic and sexual violence through outreach programs across the state. It can create new projects based on methods that have worked well elsewhere, and it can share research-based advice and successful strategies used by local communities in Oregon and other states.

Finally, the Department can gather information and reports, study them, and share the results with others.
