§ 153.680 Costs

When a criminal case results in costs being charged and collected, the court that handled the case gets to keep that money. This applies whether the case was in circuit court, justice court, or municipal court.

In simple terms, the money doesn't get sent somewhere else or split up. Whichever court collected the costs holds onto the funds. This helps the courts cover their own expenses related to running criminal cases.
