Rule 5.2 Actions of Other Persons and Organizations

Judges and people running for judge can't use other people or groups to do things they're not allowed to do themselves. If a judge or candidate has a campaign committee, they have to take reasonable steps to make sure that committee follows the same rules the judge or candidate must follow.

This means a judge can't get around the rules by having someone else do the work. For example, if a judge isn't allowed to make certain promises or say certain things while campaigning, they also can't let their campaign staff or supporters do it for them. The judge is responsible for keeping an eye on what their campaign team does and stepping in if that team crosses a line.

The point of this rule is to stop judges and candidates from using loopholes. Even if the judge personally follows every rule, they can still get in trouble if they let someone else break those rules on their behalf. Judges have to actively watch over anyone acting for them and make sure those people play by the same rules.
