Rule 3.100 Proper Use of Court Chambers

Judges have private office spaces called chambers, along with the entryway that connects those offices to the courtroom bench. People involved in a case cannot hang out in these areas or use them unless the judge is actually conducting court business there or has given permission to be there.

This means lawyers, parties, and others should stay out of the judge's chambers and the connecting entryway unless they're specifically told they can be there. These spaces are meant for the judge's work, not as a waiting area or gathering spot.

If you need to speak with the judge or have business that requires access to these areas, you should ask for permission first rather than just walking in or waiting there.
