Rule 3.150 No Reaction to Jury Verdict

When the jury announces its decision, everyone in the courtroom has to stay in their seat until the jurors have completely left the room. This means no getting up, no walking around, and no leaving your seat right after the verdict is read.

People also cannot react in a loud or obvious way that disrupts the courtroom. This means no cheering, crying out, shouting, or making other visible or audible reactions that would make the courtroom feel chaotic or disrespectful. The point is to keep the courtroom calm and orderly, no matter how someone feels about the outcome.

This rule applies to everyone present, not just the parties involved in the case. Family members, friends, and spectators all need to follow it too. If someone breaks this rule, the judge can address it right away to keep control of the courtroom.
