Plain-English Summary (for reference only — not a substitute for the rule text above)
This summary is not the rule. The rule text controls.
The word "action" in this chapter of Pennsylvania court rules refers to any civil case. This includes cases that start in a court covered by these rules, as well as cases that began somewhere else but were brought up to one of these courts on appeal.
This definition matters because the rest of the rules in this chapter apply to any case that fits this description. If your civil case is in a Pennsylvania court that follows these rules, the rules in this chapter apply to you.
