Rule 2152 Actions by associations

When an association (like a club or organization) wants to sue someone, it cannot file the lawsuit under its own name. Instead, one or more members of the association must file the case on the association's behalf. These members are called "trustees ad litem," which just means they are acting as stand-ins for the whole group.

The case title in court would look like this: "X Association by A and B, Trustees ad Litem" followed by the name of the person or group being sued. This format shows that the named individuals are not suing for themselves, but are representing the association.
