Rule 2155 Liability for costs

When a court rules against an association and orders it to pay money, the individual members of that association and its trustee ad litem are not personally responsible for paying that judgment. The debt belongs to the association, not the people in it.

However, a trustee ad litem can still be on the hook for court costs in certain situations. If the trustee represents an association that is suing someone and loses, the trustee must pay any court costs charged to the association. The same applies if the trustee represents a defending association that filed a counterclaim or setoff and loses on that claim.
