Rule 3113 Service upon garnishee; execution against mortgages, judgments or other liens on real property

When someone wants to collect a debt by going after a lien on real property (like a mortgage or judgment lien), they need to serve the garnishee with legal papers. A garnishee is the person or company that holds money or property that belongs to the debtor.

If the garnishee cannot be served using the standard methods in Rule 3111(a), there is a backup option. The person collecting the debt can instead use the service methods described in Rule 3112, which covers alternative ways to deliver legal papers when normal service is not possible.
