Rule 4002.1 Filing Discovery Material

In Pennsylvania civil cases, you do not automatically file your discovery materials with the court. Discovery materials include things like written questions sent to the other side, documents you requested, and sworn written statements.

You only file these materials if a judge orders you to, if a law requires it, or if the materials are needed to support a motion or other court proceeding. Otherwise, you hold onto them yourself and share them only with the other parties in the case.
