Rule 4024 Effective Date. Pending Actions

When the Pennsylvania courts updated their civil procedure rules in 1978, they set April 15, 1979 as the date those changes would take effect.

Any lawsuit that was already in progress on that date had to follow the new rules, not the old ones. This meant that even if your case started before the changes were made, you still had to play by the updated rules once April 15, 1979 arrived.
