Rule 314 Deferring Action Upon Admission to Program Before Information

If you are accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program before formal charges are filed against you, the judge will put your case on hold. No official criminal charges will be filed in court while you are actively participating in the program.

This gives you a chance to complete the program without having a formal criminal case open against you. As long as you stay in the program, the court will not move forward with filing charges based on the original incident.
