Rule 41.03 Dismissal of Counterclaim, Cross-Claim or Third-Party Claim

This rule says that the same rules for dismissing a lawsuit also apply to other types of claims made during a case. This includes counterclaims (when the person being sued sues back), cross-claims (when one defendant makes a claim against another defendant), and third-party claims (when someone brings a new party into the lawsuit).

So if a party wants to drop one of these claims, or if a court dismisses one of these claims, the same process and rules used for dismissing a regular lawsuit will apply. This keeps things consistent no matter what type of claim is being dismissed in the case.
