Rule 133 Costs of Motion

When you file a motion in court, the judge gets to decide who pays the court costs related to that motion. The judge can order one side to pay, split the costs, or choose not to award any costs at all.

This flexibility gives judges the power to handle costs on a case-by-case basis. However, if another law or court rule specifically says how costs must be handled for a certain type of motion, the judge must follow that rule instead.
